The carbide substrate provides the necessary toughness and shock resistance to End Mills to withstand the forces encountered during milling operations. Carbide is a composite material made from tungsten carbide particles bonded together with a metallic binder, usually cobalt. This combination of hardness and toughness makes carbide an ideal substrate for the diamond coating.
